I understand what you mean. Finney's point too. That's why I said that a change may be good. But I like (try at least) to see things more ic than mechanic wise. So here are my points that I left behind earlier.

1. No character in Pyrathia would like to die every week because he is locked there bashing others to death. And Navelic and all Boug's characters die a lot. Is this a problem of the code? I don't think so. I see ress/take khopesh/bash mostly as bad rp than bad mechanics. But forget the rp. He gets the kills paying a heavy price. And that is lagging and not being able to quaff heal/flee/disarm/dirt and eventually dying.

2.

His huge melee damage is nothing special that he's doing, it's simply melee damage being broken as hell, against even the heaviest armored of warriors.

My lighty armor character tanked him and a griffon barb. And won. We were all buffed.

3. I agree that there are no tactics spamming bash but I disagree that the latter is a cruise to victory or that warriors don't need any tactics at all.

4. You mention again bash and I've already said I agree with the removal of rest modifier, so bash/trip are included.

:P

Navelic is more often than not a victim of another tactic that takes no skill, and that is vastly outnumbering your opponent with opponents. It takes balls to do what he does in confronting the unskilled players who employ the 9v1 tactic.

More often than not too, these are melee characters that just overwhelm other characters with the sheer volume of attacks and bash.

Once bash gets fixed though, I'm sure that the unskilled players will definitely become obsolete.

Hey, there are a lot of us unskilled players who do enjoy playing. Do not chase us completely away! :P

I doubt it will chase the players away, it will just make their inefficiencies shine through more.

As per weapons, I would suggest lowering the maximum amount of damage that weapons do, and increasing the minimum amount. There's a reason that people prefer to use battle spears over epees, and that is because the weapons that do the lowest damage really don't do much damage at all.

Another point to consider:

I've played some fighters since the damage changes back in uh, 2004 was it?

About that time gstr was tweaked to give off fatigue too.

It seems that races with a sub 'par' str attribute are really just unable to deal damage worth mentioning when compared to humans centaurs griffons or giants.
Maybe if damage was not so heavily depending on STR?

Then what is STR going to do? Determine how much of a packmule you can be?

It isn't. My elf paladin is capable of dealing out a [REDACTED] load of damage with a landsknecht. Str helps but it isn't the end all stat.

I've got a sprite that deals pretty decent melee damage when using an enchanted weapon. STR isn't the final say in how much damage you deal.

I've seen this to be quite the opposite, but hey.

The only difference between the mud now and the mud in 2001 is that in 2001 you atleast had to have one of the top 5 weapons in the game to do this kind of damage. Now, everyone can do it.

Warriors take an equal amount of skill, Finney, don't trick yourself. They just needed to work a bit harder to get the mottled lance back in the day.

9v1 isn't skill
