It has a greater potential to happen to those relatively 'lower' int_max races more often, especially if they hold spells close to their threshold too. Having more intelligence is a great perk. It works the same way in combat too, sometimes being hit by spells or melee can interrupt.

Now that I think about it, I think I've had tells interrupt my brewing. Hmm.

You tell Deadguy 'I'll pray for you.'

You start to concentrate.
Your concentration has been interrupted!
Deadguy replies 'Thank you.'

You start to concentrate.
Your concentration has been interrupted!
Deadguy replies 'I'm in the river.'

You start to concentrate.
Your concentration has been interrupted!
Deadguy replies 'Are you going to pray for me yet?

You tell Deadguy 'I'm trying but you keep interrupting my prayer.'

Here is a scenario. Battle is going on. Characters not involved in it send tells to a targeted mage that is in battle in an attempt to overwhelm his/her concentration. Viable tactic or lame?

It only makes sense that melee characters with few commands to enter or characters anywhere else in the world could support such an effort.

Sending him maybe 1 tasteful tell would be ok. But to spam him with tells would be lame as hell.

As far as I can 'tell', the concentration required to recieve a tell is -very- minimal. (I've only seen dwarf priests have problems with it, and that's when they're casting resurrection.)

As such, and also considering that tells are a one-time thing, you'd have to have a LOT of tell-spamming to have even a slightly noticeable impact, which would definitely be on the border of OOC discourtesy. That said, quiet mode exists for a reason.
