Your making the assumption that everyone int he game will resist 95% of spells which blatantly isn't the case. The fact of the matter is that in any group pk when you brandish an overpowered staff you can expect it to pulverize more than one person in the enemy group. The fact that there hasnt even been a single log posted where someone brandishes such a staff just goes to show that there hasn't been nearly enough testing done to assume that magic is weak. Plus, the fact that magical items give you access to melee damage, IE charm wands, animate dead wands, means no matter what magic will always be stronger.

Well perfect. Obviously there are overpowered wands of charm and animate just lying around for everyone to take. No challenge at all.
Let's just remove all of those and enchant armor/weapons with it. That way there's no reward for effort, you just have to slap on whatever is handy, or go find whatever is good. Let's remove brewing and scribing while we're at it, since that's overpowered too (shouldn't spend all our time preparing, should we?).

Or just get rid of offensive scrolls, spells, and wands, and not bother with the rest of that stuff?

Then, make material matter again in weapon damage. Problem solved.

Wow, it also goes to show that you can't say 'magic isn't weak' when your not talking about magic, your talking about unique items, and the very fact that there isn't 1 log posted goes to show that you shouldn't consider these items to be the standard.

No actually it just goes to show that those very people who are complaining about magic being underpowered aren't even using the most powerful magical items in the game when they have them.

Magic != Magic Items

Again the standard should not be scrolls that come from the Iron Citadel that only Konge's priests ever have, and when he does have it no one else can get one.

Your arguing that the exception is the rule, which is [REDACTED].

So, what all the anti-melee people are saying...

Is that steel weapons and their energy/addy/mithril versions shouldn't do the same damage! Right!? Good job guys! Me and Algon agree with you!

My last sorc, I enchanted steel pigstickers and tanso wakizashis to like +6/+6 and +7/+7 all the time. =/

It's actually almost easier to enchant the low quality weapons, because you can buy them in bulk half the time.

My last sorc was -always- able to get the mithril pigsticker to 10 enchants. TY for proving my point.
