D-A, everything doesn't have to make sense, its for balance. You CAN NOT leave the room while under the affect of taunt. Ethereal/o all rescue/wtfever is fine, because otherwise taunt would be completely overpowered.

Her username Summ was questioned about imms generally listening to their YIM buddies. I never said any imm actually is a YIM buddy with her(might be, who knows, check out the link posted in the previous page).

Anyway, I guess Alshain can just delete most posts from this thread and keep it clean with the gameplay ones only. Or just delete it, and I'll start a new one. Perhaps Dulrik can't read through all these posts to make a reply, but I'm sure he can give us his thoughts on a fresh thread, right?

EDIT: Syndal, you can't leave because you want to harm the swashie, not avoid him. For logical reasons, you shouldn't be able to turn ethereal or do anything to avoid the swashie(just like you can't teleport/word/anything). If now that makes taunt overpowered, there are other better ways to wimp it. But just like magma, there are other ways to balance things but some people are just too stubborn to accept that and change things.

I'd be alright with making it impossible to add the ethereal affect while taunted. I'd also be okay with seeing the duration of taunt shortened. Stone skin? Uh that's keeping you safe while you beat this punk's face in. I think Ardith makes the correct counter argument though - either you're chancing losing concentration by casting eth or worrying about the duration of your magical item. I think the code is pretty much taking care of whatever tiny loophole exists here. I don't see anything requiring a massive overhaul of taunt. I definitely do not admit to any wrong doing in my interaction with Yotbol. If anything I should have gone farther to intervene with a player who did not hesitate to swear at an Immortal.

Taunt would be disturbingly overpowered if priests/necros/sorcs/bards/rogues/warlocks couldn't go ethereal. Most people that can't obtain ethereal stand a chance in combat, the people that can go ethereal, uh, don't.

All you have to do to get out of taunt Achernar is go ethereal and spam quaff word. You can't quaff while taunted, but you will insta quaff it the moment the affect goes off. Or spam flee or spam a direction with auto follow off. Or do quite a few different things. Also, even the weaker ethereal scroll lasts longer than taunt.

That's how hard it is to avoid taunt. The risk about worrying on the duration of your magical item simply does not exist.

So yes, ethereal >>> taunt. In all its aspects(casted, from items, from devices).

Also, how can you consider spam casting stone skin actually an action to harm the swashie? Warlocks don't have combat casting afaik. So as they spam concentrate on their spell, they don't even melee attack the swashie.

Until these are fixed though, you are still a biased moderator in my eyes who was in haste to harm my char on purpose. And I'm not talking about the wimping of the item only, I know it will be restored or a lot more wimping will come, judging from your post, but for not caring the slightest for the wasted hours of my life re-enchanting said piece of equipment.

So if you are fine with destroying my gaming experience, just refrain yourself from preaching such things in the future, will you?

YOU CAN NOT LEAVE THE ROOM WHILE UNDER THE AFFECT OF TAUNT, BY ANY MEANS.

Avoiding get owned, is fine.

This is a balance issue, which is apparently something you know nothing about.

You cannot leave not because the magic is nullified from taunt. You cannot leave because you have no will to activate said magic.

As you should have no will to turn ethereal also.

D-A, wtf is your problem? BALANCE. It doesn't matter if it makes any sense.

As I just said. YOU CAN NOT LEAVE THE ROOM. There is no RP associated with it. Just the fact that YOU CAN NOT LEAVE THE ROOM. That's what taunt does.

Wrong way to balance taunt then. It needs to be reworked from scratch.

Magma should do, in several of its aspects, but that's a taunt thread.

I'm not going to bother responding to this question, because it will make absolutely no difference. I responded to the magma thread several times and DA ignored me and kept arguing anyway. What I've learned from this experience is to just ignore DA.
