I don't think any of the pots are "unlimited". I know, for fact, the ones in the Empire have been sold out in the past.

On a different line of thought, Dulrik, you also have to remember how "normal" economic principles don't perfectly translate to the world of SK. Vials, like many real world goods or services, are essential for everyday things. Each kingdom (I believe) has only one vial shop so they are allowed to jack prices up as demand increases. What stops that in a normal economy is competition. But, because this is run in "IMM time", a player can't initiate another vial shop to try and sell vials and make a profit. So, nothing forces Jester's Vial Shop to stop raising prices. If you want to make the argument that "there are other vial shops", then you've merely translated the problem to the global, or "Pyrathian" scale. Because the shops don't understand the concept of "underselling their competitor to get more business", the normal model, that your economic system is based off of, breaks, and you have annoyed players.

On a serious note, I was merely adding another important consideration that priests have to take into account when brewing. It's far from a minor thing, as I've lost everything when a nice rogue decided he wanted to do it to me. (Whoever you are, by the way, you deserve to die a horrible death  ). How so much can be taken from you w/o your knowledge makes no sense to me. Then again, I suppose this isn't the place for that argument. :P

Vial shops should be subsidized so that they remain at constant price. End of story.

[REDACTED] subsidizing things that already rake in the cash.

I am not sure that I understand what you are saying. Subsidizing things fixes the prices so that they do not vary much, unless I totally didn't pay attention in school? :o

This is completely unrelated, but subsidizing something means providing financial assistance for. Ex. the US government subsidizes scientific research by providing grants and tax breaks to groups performing research. "Subsidizing vials" would mean that the government would help cover the cost of producing vials, a concept which doesn't really make sense in SK given that vials aren't produced anywhere, except out of thin air by the code.

Two weeks ago I bought 300 vials. They started off at 1.5 plat a piece, and ended up somewhere at 9 plat a piece :(

That wasn't all the result of the demand code. Like a real economy, there were multiple factors at work. Demand by itself probably only tripled the price to 4.5 platinum, which still seems reasonable to me after you just bought 300 of them. But you also dumped at least 150 obsidian into the local economy in a very short span of time. That probably more than doubled the amount of coins in circulation and caused an additional doubling of the prices of ALL items in the kingdom due to inflation. That would account for the price you quoted for the vials.

I wasn't replying to you, sleeper. I didn't even attempt to address your argument.

I am looking at this evaporation issue and I don't see anything in the code that makes all purchased scrolls or potions evaporate. It's possible this might be due to builder flags on specific store items. Please give me a list of the specific potions/scrolls that are evaporating from disuse and I'll check those for possible errors.

I am pretty sure that it is all of them. Perhaps it is just me.
