Honestly, I imagine most high follower priests of a faith with (as is the case of most SK religions these days) 2 - 3 members would be thrilled to have new seekers. More people to spread the word of my god? Hells yes!

When I've played priests I've always used a rather precise formula to figure out if I should invest someone: Does person A want to join more than anything else in the whole wide world? This question is answered by asking them by the way, not by having them prove their desire by singlehandedly throttling a big bad grue. And the second one: Is that person willing to follow and adhere to the tenets of the faith that I, as a high priest, lay out to them at their initiation.

If they can pass those two, they're in. Then you can rp thoroughly with them later to figure out if they are actually decent characters or not. Besides, if they aren't then they probably won't last too long anyhow.

I thought the rule was that you couldn't make them wait not that you had to accept them. That is, say yes (and induct) or say no fairly quickly - don't keep them hanging for ages with no clear answer.

That's cabals.

Hi Rodney!

Are you playing again?

Sorry to derail the thread.

But what everyone else has said.

I'm surprised you've never been in a religion - almost all of my characters are in religions. It makes the game a lot more enriching for me.

Meh, I actually have a lot more fun on my own, or with just a coupla peoples, wandering 'round and finding stuffs. Every time I would try to join one in the past, I'd have to go get some piece of EQ or some key or give somebody a fluffjob, and then end up waiting a frickin' RL week before the HF is on, and so I said forget it it. Nothing makes the game less fun than not being able to play bcuz u NEED someone else.

Funny, because that's not the message I got from you in the aforementioned PM.

But, then, your use of the word induct as opposed to invest leads me to believe you are thinking about cabal/tribunal and not religions.

I recall Raynor being denied entry into multiple faiths before finally having to settle for Yed.

Raynor was so funny.

The way I would approach this with my character, the seeker would have to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that my faith is the absolute one for them and have to explain exactly why they went to the other ones first. Then I would have to talk to followers of those faiths and find out why they were turned down. And then confer with the other HF. Considering that I play over hours that the vast majority of religions are represented these days, I see no more than a 24 hour or so turn around.

Then after they dedicate themselves, they best tow the line or expect to be blemished/shunned. As I said before, it is giving the soul to a god, and gods are fickle do they really want to be a second, third of fourth choice for this person?

I know without doubt that the rule applies for cabals and tribunals. However I thought it applied to religions too because, well... surely there ARE some characters you just don't want in your religion?! The way it's been quoted in this thread a priest of Dulrik would have to invest a necromancer simply because they asked... :o

Unless it's something blatant like that, you have no say. That's pretty much what we were told on the Religious Leaders forum. You have to invest them, and allow them to fall. Then you can blemish them. And if you happen to be an F3 without detect aura . . . just prepare to eat [REDACTED] if you happen to induct someone who doesn't fall in the criteria.
