I can see a few reasons for this. My character actually does use the birthday for certain RP events. One main reason I would like to see something like this personally is for those of us that play a character to age death and would like to plan ahead for some type of RP around the death. To simply guess could have the character keel over during the middle of the RP, to give a rough estimate (maybe simply the month) would enable those that want to use the information the chance to plan accordingly.

Considering that your death is not going to happen on your "birthday," or on any precisely calculable moment, that's a pretty MORONIC reason to request a birthday.

Please, Evena, if you speak your opinion, do not include everyone in it. Not all of us agree with you or anyone else here, we are individuals capable of thinking for ourselves and deciding things we want and do not want.

How about you toggle some common sense and just PICK A DAMN DAY if you want one?

Speak up if you want to, but I'm still pretty sure nobody is going to give a flying [REDACTED] about your character's birthday, except YOU. PLENTY of other worthwhile things to worry about implementing without pandering to a couple of whiny [REDACTED] incapable of formulating a birthday.

Step 1: Once every day for a week at the same time each day, spam the score command. Note when your age goes up. You now have a 24-hour window.

Step 2: During that 24-hour window, spam score every hour.

Repeat until you get it down to an in-game hour, if you want.

It is perfectly possible.

It may not happen exactly on the birthday, but it is usually close from my experience.

Speak up if you want to, but I'm still pretty sure nobody is going to give a flying umm... about your character's birthday, except YOU. PLENTY of other worthwhile things to worry about implementing without pandering to a couple of whiny [REMOVED] incapable of formulating a birthday.

That is your opinion, Evena. Yours alone, not everyone else's opinion. Sure some may share it, some may share mine. But please stop stating that I am the only one that cares, because as this thread shows, there is more than one person that cares about knowing the information. If you feel the need to keep slamming other people's opinions, it will just keep cementing my opinion of you in my mind. This is Gameplay, the discussions should be about what people think would make the game more enjoyable for them as players, and not using filtered words to belittle the opinions of others when they do not agree with you, keep that to General Discussion where it belongs.

But I guess you will keep using such words to drag down the opinions of others (which in my opinion shows little maturity) rather than have a rational discussion, so I am just giving myself carpal tunnel trying to get you to understand that somethings that are important to others are not important to the rest. Kind of like one's man's trash is another one's treasure.

EDITED to fix a grammatical error pointed out by Evena.

Not really concerned with your opinion of me. Truly. You're not even a slight concern of mine.

Hey, madam model of maturity - what the hell does "Your's" mean? Is that a word?

Discussion does not mean "walk on eggshells and make sure everyone's feelings remain in tact while you disagree with them." It means discuss. I think the idea is a waste of time. Anyone wanting a birthday (a "feature" with only role-play potential and no actual gravity as far as the game goes) can make one up, or follow grep's instructions and figure it out.

Hey guys I just thought I'd throw an idea out there. I think it'd be really super cool if there were a command in game that would let me know what my character's father was called. This is something I should know, right? I mean, who doesn't know their own dad's name? Discuss.

I believe that the age command goes up at the same time for every character, but I could certainly be wrong about it. I'm sure that some crazy cult might worship the date of their birth. I've considered this more than once before and was convinced long ago that the age went up on Mondays. I think that assumption is wrong because weeks are not exactly congruent with IC years. Dulrik would know.

Chinese style birthdays, huh?

The idea of having a command for your parents is interesting. I can see it now:

Quote:
Turon: Now, Taslamawan wapscallion...
Seago: I'm not Taslamaran, I'm an Imperial.
Turon: An Impewial?
Seago: No, no, Imperial.
Turon: So, youw fathew was an impewial? Who was he?
Seago: He was a centurion... in the Teron garrison, sir...
Turon: Weally? What was his name?
Seago: >lineage
MUD: Your father was Naughtius Maximumus and your mother was a fishmonger's wife.

I've been working on some RP to make Gliknok Xonin's father. Sprite + Giant = Human, right? Perhaps Ailee should be my mother.

Now let's see. Ailee enlarged herself two sizes and shrunk Gliknok two sizes and bow chica wow wow. It was an instant birth. Doesn't make sense, but fantasy doesn't have to. Back to Ailee and Gliknok.

Both licked toads, but they were bad toads. They blacked out during the entire ordeal. Also, these toads made them forget they licked the toads and a little bit of stuff before that, so they have no memory of the trip they took or the conversation they had about licking toads together.

How did I discover they were my parents? I died, and during my time on the shores, I was given a revelation by Dulrik, and the Truth of my parents was revealed to me. Thanks parents for dropping me in the swamp next to a toad.

They left me there and I was rescued by that wise old paladin in Morea. He raised me as his own. To him, I looked like a normal human, even though I was a Spriant. I didn't get the gift of wings, sadly. The rest is a normal paladin childhood and what not, until now.

And that's where we are on the story of Xonin. Let's see where it goes...

EDIT: The toads also caused the two to fall in love while under the effects, and just before the effect wore off, they were recalled and put to sleep for a short time, waking up not knowing what happened.
