Warning: Rant ahead

So as a lot of people might have noticed there's been a sorc that's been roaming around and RP'ing while polymorphed. This character has taken great care ic to preserve her identity during these polymorph RP's. No one ic knows where they polymorph at. The character changes their clothing, their speech mannerisms, their language, emotes etc. Yet just because it's a non playable race that the sorc chooses to polymorph into, the majority of the people I've run into seem to automatically and magically know it's a sorc that's polymorphed.

Pyrathia is a place with golems, undead zombies and other such things, yet people automatically know when something is amiss or not. Now granted, the one thing the people haven't known (least til I posted the log, which I still regret doing) was the identity of the sorc in question doing it. Yet people, the moment they see the character, instead of going with the flow and perhaps demasking them ic, automatically throw out things that are basically like "OMG POLYMORPHED SORC! REVEAL YOURSELF!" etc OR, they find it amusing (one character did) to polymorph into the exact likeness of it. Imms possess NPCs all the time to do emotes and interact with players, yet you NEVER see players screaming "OMG POLYMORPH! " or "OMG A CERTAIN CABAL!" etc, so why is it they feel the need to do so on other players? Whats the point of polymorphing into alternate nonplayable races, writing descriptions if a literal 70-80% of the mud you meet would rather just tell you to stop pretending (when they icly shouldn't be able to tell you're even poly'd in the first place) instead of just going along with it?

Is it honestly too much to freaking as people to swallow their pride and actually PLAY THEIR CHARACTER AND NOT THEMSELVES for 5 MINUTES?! This is a game. Put your mindset in your characters, NOT YOURS. This game isn't all about the loot and the l337 PK and the l337 posting of PK logs and "winning" SK. It's a fluid story that's supposed to be ripe with conflict and RP. What's the point of PK if the ONLY driving force behind it is one's aura? Are you honestly SO lazy that the only thing people can do anymore is create a character just to PK and basically their RP consists of "You ebil. Me good. You dai nowkthxbye."? While I understand that this is a valid RP concept, it's all that seems to happen anymore. I meet very few characters with any real depth behind them it seems (Granted there are a few and I do enjoy those that I meet) but the most I've met are just..Such...Such I have no word for it honestly, but it's annoying as all get out.

I've claimed several times that I've felt the game seems a bit OOC, but never until I've rolled this character have I truly felt it. There has always been something that I met that piqued my interest time and time again, but here lately it seems like whenever I want to try something different I get shut down at every turn. I'm not trying to make anything groundbreaking. I'm not trying to altar the mud in any way. The character is just a simple shapeshifter who dons altar egos based on whatever they polymorph into and that's it. Is it honestly that hard just to go along with the flow and pretend that you don't know that it's a poly'd character simply because it's a nonplayable race? This is getting ridiculous.

Yes I know it's whiny. Yes I'm expecting HTFU's and frankly I don't really care, but seriously, this is getting ridiculous. The game is supposed to have some RP, not be a freaking Halo team match of L v D.

To those of you who didn't scream "OMG POLYMORPH!" upon seeing the characters, I give a heartfelt thank you to. The interactions were very enjoyable and I hope that you had the same fun as I did.
/end rant

Maybe you should consider creating a character whose sole RP direction isn't dictated by how others react to your uncommon RP.

I don't know what you're polymorphing into, but any character in question would be an idiot if he didn't assume it was a polymorphed sorcerer. The most obvious answer must be true.

Well, when people see ludacris or suspicious things they suspect a commonplace spell to be the reason, and not an extraplanar invasion or the like. Unless people are stupidly agressive though, this suspicion could surely be incorporated in your RP. Playing the different roles, even when people know that it is not your true (physical) appearance shouldn't staunt the possibilities it creates. I've played a very poly-heavy sorc myself, and I found it to be tons of fun, even when polying into seraphs and elementals.

Even without poly, changing mannerism/speech/language can be immensely effective.

I liked your Idea , and congratulated you already, and I am sad to see this rant of yours. Because it seems that you think you put so much into this, that you would like to see some OOC courtesy instead of dealing with reactions of all types.

Instead of asking people to play naive,
accept their reactions and roleplay accordingly.

There are things that your character might not know of.
1.The "prophet's ,omg a sorceror" Int and Wis, which if they are high
enough, they might probably have a good reason to be suspicious.
(I'd even suggest a wisdom or intelligence check here against the polymorph)

2. Their character backstory which could be that they grown up near a
sorceror and know how to figure out a polymorphed sorceror from a construct.

3. Their personal investigation on the appearance of your character and whats hidden behind what they see.

4. OOC reasons, which your character clearly doesn't know, but you have to deal with it.

This post will have little to no affect on the way people enjoy to play. Be that Pplay, Rplay or a bit of both.

Konge said it best.

Polymorph is part of the scenery. Wear cloth armor, hoard loot, and have charms? You'll be expected to polymorph, too.

You've complained so much, though, that any characters I play will have a hard time disengaging from my immediate hypothesis that any RP-heavy polymorph when you're logged on is you. You've, in effect, made it worse than it already was simply by drawing so much attention to it. :P

It's heartbreaking to me that you can't see how that reaction is IC and roll with it. Most of us have also figured out OOCly which sorc you play that's doing it and we've kept that out of the roleplay. It's interesting and all but unless we're playing idiots, we'll assume the common answer is the right one. It wouldn't have to make the roleplay totally disappointing to you, but it does, and that makes me sad.

My characters actually are omniscient. I work it into their back story.

Sorry Kin but your first mistake was posting a log, you have no one to blame but yourself, and picking a non-playable race is yet another strike against you. Majority of people play to win and won't take chances.

Next time, pick a playable race, tell no one about your character, post nothing about your character and you should be fine. Other wise you're just swimming against the current, eventually it'll swipe you away.
