I've been thinking again about the heroes thing and come up with a few ideas I'd like to toss out to the Pbase.

First, with the smaller pbase and lack of people playing in some of the classes I was thinking it might be worthwhile to do groupings, i.e. Fighter Hero, Adventurer Hero etc. The way I see it broken down is like this:

Fighter Hero
Mercenaries
Barbarians

Adventurer Hero
Bards
Scouts
Swashbucklers
Rogues

Spellcaster Hero
Mages
Warlocks
Necromancers

Knight Hero
Paladins
Hellions

Clergy Hero
Priests
Shamans

I'm not a big fan of calling them the "Knight Hero", but if people like this idea I'll come up with a better name.

The second thing I'd like to bring up is what people would like to see as a reward for these things. I liked Achernar offering a wish to the participants, obviously within reason. And I like the amulet to signify they are a hero, but do we want the amulets to do something different?

Basically, I think that if we grouped some of the classes we would have a larger number of contestants and we might actually be able to have a full hero council within a few months time.

Thoughts?

Is the "friend" the one that has the erectile dysfunction issue?

Just kidding!

On topic, I don't have a strong opinion on this - think I'd rather see it stay as it is but to better automate the transfer/ challenge process to replace heroes when they delete or go inactive and allow for some competition that requires no (minimal?) imm intervention.

And I like having some form of ongoing perk for heroes.

I had originally had them with the other fighters but I was thinking that any aspect of the competitions where fighting were included that they were better balanced fighting against the other light armor "adventurer" classes.

Also here's a link to a previous hero discussion for context.

I have my issues with it -- primarily in the adventure section where for example, how would you test rogues vs bards? In a fight? Or scouts vs rogues? Just curious.
