This should be moved to gameplay. Since most of the thread is just whining about how the skill functions.

The only bug involved with intimidate is the same one that BoG has, it doesn't always break at the right times after landing.

Edoras' suggestion is a good one, if people are so worried about THE DREADED THIRD RANK HELLION.

I'm pretty sure there are more important gameplay balance issues, though. Like the sorc class.

I think I agree with you on the part that's bugged/broken. That is, that it should stop protecting anyone who is currently attacking something (be it via melee, ranged, or spells).

Once someone is in melee, I agree that they should no longer be checking against intimidate to perform actions, unless that action is targeted.

I think if intimidate was changed to simply not work if the hellion was in the third row, it would be fine. It'd leave it up to the enemy to make sure the hellion is engaged.

I don't think people who AREN'T in melee should get a free bypass against intimidate just because the burly warrior in front of them managed to do so.

You don't get to ignore sanctuary just because the target is in melee.

Like I said, the skill's only loopy because hellions who are in the 2nd row without a reaching weapon, or hellions in the 3rd row without a reaching weapon can still intimidate. If you remove the ability for a hellion who cannot reach over his own ranks to intimidate, the skill will be just fine IMO.

Eh, I don't know. I think it should work as is as far as your comment is concerned. You see a group of guys walking around together, regardless of how they are grouped. One of them looks omfghella-scary, so you might be intimidated by that one person, again regardless of where he is in the group, so you cower in fear and suck on your thumb.

I suppose I'm trying to make the most sense out of the helpfile according to intimidate which says that it works on the hellion's entire group and that it also only works on people in melee range.

From that description, it seems like intimidate should only work if opponents can be struck -by- the hellion, so someone in the third row should never be intimidated except maybe a rogue. That said, I've made plenty of posts in the past about how everyone in the -room- can be intimidated by the hellion and no change has been made to intimidate in a long time. The only problem I see that results from the current setup is that if the hellion can't be engaged in physical combat because of how he's placed himself, intimidate becomes way too powerful.
