I'd probably say Deep-elf sorceror. Plenty of innate MR cloth gear, enchant for MR on top of that and you can easily land 40-60 MR, and THEN spell ward makes them untouchable spell wise outside of magma. Toss in the fact they can have two charms fairly easily and still cast, and that everyone else has reduced saves allows petrification/dispel to brutalize opponents. Mirror image helps negate dirt kick and magma attempts. Then pile on all the other perks of being a sorceror, scrolls/staves/wands/etc.
Have to disagree. You already mentioned warlocks, but that race/class combination would also get countered hard by a scout or mercenary with a bow/crossbow specialization. I actually think scouts got a pretty big indirect buff via the enchanting change splitting armor protection and magical protection.
I'm not so sure they did, to be honest. Before changes, people had 4-5 MP and saves. Now they have 4-5 AP AND 4-5 MP, which is easy to do unless they are cramming MR in there too. So unless someone is running MR, I doubt they're going to notice, and a sorc has always been arrow fodder until you go ethereal.
