Having a holy symbol with a +1 to a maxed stat may not be a 'big' issue, but it's still a free attribute point slot that's handed out to twinks for twinking.

But this is just one little example.

Here's a better question:

Why *not*? What exactly is lost in the game by letting people rebuild? I think the use of loyalty tokens to allow weapon respecialization was a great step forward hailed by most as character-unruining.

The respec thing does not help newbs. What newbs have 40, 60, 100 LT's? It's 20 a pop and let's be real, if you [REDACTED] up your spec that bad the first time, you're probably gonna screw up with the respec too, either by picking a subpar weapon or picking a good weapon that you won't ever get because other people have them. Remember you can't use them on the character that earned them either.

The respec thing benefits vets who want the benefit of the pick up and go style of barbs, but with the bonus skills mercs get. Now, if I roll a merc, I have to worry less about getting one of my specs, because if I die and my Addy Super Sword gets hoarded, I have faith in my ability to not die too often and drop the LTs and switch my spec to some other Super Weapon that I get my hands on.

Just helps vets flex their knowledge more and removes the downside to mercenary for them.

Let people use loyalty tokens to retrain stats.

It's simple. A player spends loyalty tokens, gets a stack knocked one closer to their racial minimum, and gets a free stat train.

The game would be more newb friendly, and less:

Nobody told you about (REFERENCE TO EXTERNAL WEBSITE CONTAINING OOC INFORMATION PRE-REMOVED BY AUTHOR PM ME) so now the character you leveled inefficiently is now not competitive.

No. SK already has a "flavor of the year" problem without letting people avoid rerolling to adopt the latest.

Loyalty tokens are already questionable enough. We still have not seen numbers on leadership tokens vs reward tokens vs CRS tokens to know what is actually being rewarded in the practical implementation of the system.

I don't necessarily agree with the community, but I pronounce this thread dead by popular consensus, unless anyone has something to say to my defense.

How in the world do you come to the conclusion that symbols having stat bonuses on them is for twinking?

This is probably as good a place as any to mention that symbols were changed a few months ago to not give bonuses to any of the six primary attributes.

While you're here and talking about bonuses, what's up with armor protection on non-armor pieces? Does that even do anything?

Not sure what example you are thinking of, but you can only use enchant armor on armor or shields to start with. It should work on both of those types of items. Is a builder perhaps mistakenly creating armor pieces that are not worn in armor locations?

Typo log that if/when you see it, or let me know what items you have found this on.

Quote:
quest 8
Quest summary:

Name: Jahdi's Poultice
Level: Amateur to Grand Master
Area: Village of Elisair

Description:
Jahdi the Sunspark needs some ingredients for a healing poultice: first, a sunflower seed, then, a yellow and green mushroom, and finally, a fleshy spike of sweet flag.

The first item on that quest, the sunflower seed, can be outrageously difficult to obtain. The NPC that carries it often wanders outside of the zone it is allowed to sell things, and will refuse to sell the item. Can this be addressed?

That's dated 7/8/12. This problem has still not been addressed. There have been various other things I've sent to other imms that have not been addressed and are still broken.

Yup. Sometimes that happens.

I don't know from where you are drawing this particular quote from, but since I happen to see your forum post this time, I am happy to deal with this specific one. This same issue has bothered me as well.
