Here is what coin gathering is:

Grinding. Not fun. The only things you need to do it optimally are a tank and someone who casts summon and gate. It's a timesink, about as stimulating as your ex-wife.

Here is what coin gathering should be:

It should offer high value prizes for doing PvE quests and adventures, instead of just selling people's junk. Players should be rewarded for cooperation, intelligent planning and risk taking, not for treadmill running.

What ever happened to the dragon's hoard?

Discuss.

I would vote yes, and think it is a good idea in principle, but the MMO has shown us that any challenge, once inevitably mastered, becomes routine.

When the dragon turns into DKP, it's all the same hamster wheel.

Going to the outer planes has never become routine. It's at least linear instead of cyclical.

Coin is a joke to earn in SK, don't make it easier.

So, your position is that fun ways to get coin should be added, and then the existing ways to get coin should be nerfed as too easy? I dig that.

Since coin is required for all building projects, maybe getting things built should reflect eliteness, and not treadmill endurance.

Let's take that logic to the hero tag before we go messing with an already precarious economy system.

Kind of curious how the 'limited coin in existence' thing works when there are quests and things like getting to XYZ-npc that create 10 obsidian in your inventory.

SK Character: That one guy who pk'd you.
What about all the religion accounts, filled with 50 obsidians a pop. That is a good 750 or so obsidians, taken out of the game at all times. I have yet to be in a religion that doesn't have their account maxed out or ever use any of it.

I say get rid of them, and re-circulate them into the game.

Making money in sk is also not very difficult. It is all about finding quality items and using shopkeepers who dish out high sums for them.

Meissa's faith recently went through 100 obsidian and just a few days ago came back to 50 obsidian. Personally, I'd like to keep it there as there may be future plans for it.

Trag makes a very acute and appropriate suggestion. In the model used by the MUD, saving money is arguably what freezes economies, Travorn.

SK has approached this topic in the past, though, and it's always been a dubious exercise.
