kick is always a bad decision no matter the circumstances b/c if ur kicking u r front row and there are more important things u should be doing.

As someone who doesn't play mercs a lot, if ever. What do you do with the free time between bashes?

if ur kicking in the front row, it means ur tanking. if ur not tanking as a merc in the front row ur doing it wrong. u should be in the second row with a glaive, halberd, bill, or bec de corbin doing real damage and using trip. or it means ur in the fist and u should be doing anime stuff like throwing people and breaking their armor and weapon.

if ur not fist, u should be quaffing heal potions (ur tanking remember?), retreating as necessary and if there are casters in the enemy formation dirt kicking them. all of which are better options than crappy kick. there u have it: kick is bad and u should feel bad if u use it in pk.

lulz blitz and kick r both terrible in pk

even in the situations u mentioned ur better off not lagging urself, so that you can time a trip/bash


I also don't always agree when the community flags something as "useless". More often I agree that certain things are useless/less useful in certain situations. Blitz does seem to be a skill much better suited to a variety of PvE situations rather than PvP.

While I also don't necessarily advocate using a bunch of kicks in PvP combat, I'm also curious, finney, if you're making your judgements on "kick" based upon the old version of the skill? Or if you're basing it upon the updated version that takes into consideration skills like self-defense/brawling/wild fighting, and the weaponized-boot knuckles/claws objects that were introduced to the game after that skill was buffed?

Am tempted to roll a centaur barb and kick things with hoof claws just to see now lol

Is wild fighting actually accounted for with kick? Since the only barbs that get kick would be centaurs

Edit: also. Claws and boot claws(since they were implemented) have never really been a great idea for front row combat because that means you loose an armor slot on your hands/feet which is much more dangerous then losing a small amount of dps

In certain situations, I guess I could see boots (kicking boots) being useful. No one really aims low so the armor you are losing in favor of more damage isn't much of an issue. Maybe.

Still, a centaur barb kicking things is pretty cool. Maybe.
