I play one, so I wouldn't be too put off by the idea.

Hitting the entire front row would be nice, but I would like to see it able to be used only with your specialization and not just slashing weapons. If you want to Blitz you use a specializing weapon. Now granted if you specialized in a ranged weapon it may or may not be viable, but it would be funny to see each warrior in the front rank get hit with one arrow.

This is part of my dilemma. While I am all for making 'useless' skills worth something, fixing up a skill on the most powerful class in SK probably shouldn't be that high of a priority.

Fixing blitzkrieg to work properly isn't going to make the class much better than it is now. It would just give mercenaries something else to do.

The upper ceiling for damage on melee weapons needs looked at for one thing. The weapons that do the highest amount of damage are literally capable of killing heavy armor clad mercs and barbs in a single round. You don't even need the full amount of rounds that a bash or trip is going to grant you to finish off someone. I had rolled a swashbuckler and was still dismayed when even in hedgehog stance I was two-rounded by a group of giants.

Specifically, weapons that are classified as massive should have their damage cut by at least 1/3. They've become so FOTM and for good reason. Especially if that weapon also has reach. They're so good that for mercs and barbs to remain competitive they absolutely must use those weapons.

Do I think this is going to happen? No. Dulrik is, after all, suggesting that changing the wording on the helpfile for blitzkrieg will balance the skill.

I thought he was suggesting changing the skill to match the helpfile?

Hey, fixing weapons should be another thread. That said I have noticed yet again, everyone is after the same few weapon subtypes, perhaps when that happens the current status quo should be reevaluated and the subtype ladder fixed. Massive weapons should be looked at if they are capable of dropping full hp warrior classes in one round.

That's what I got out of it as well. :)

Blitzkrieg hasn't ever matched the helpfile, and IMO it should be changed to match what the helpfile does. However, that wouldn't really change -much- with regard to the balance of the mercenary class, given that mercenaries almost always have better things to do than use blitzkrieg.

Disarm doesn't need to be usable over ranks. It's powerful enough as is.

It would likely be best if you started a AoN topic that is separate from this current topic.

If changed to work how helpfile states now, it would be good. Unlikely I will benefit much from it since merc is so old. Still, would be cool.
