Yes, limited consumables are targeted. Unlimited consumables are not. The point of dehoarding is to bring hoarded items back into circulation. Only limited items are capable of being hoarded. Low level items are always in circulation, so they are never going to be touched by the dehoarding system.

By the way, go back and read the beginning of this thread where people were begging me to have the system start affecting consumables.

This was in the works prior to the 'What would excite you' post was made.

ur missing the pt

this change only adversely affects casters, since they r much more reliant on high level consumables, like wands and staves, than melee classes. melee classes almost exclusively use low level vials for their healing potions, so this change won't affect them at all, and they were already considerably stronger than caster.

this change only further exacerbates that gap.

This type of change would have been great to know of prior to the roll out, so people could have prepared themselves. An "FYI" note in the middle of the night after the change happens is not a great way to treat the pbase.

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

I would recommend tweaking the set amount to a higher number. Also, base charges of staves need to be boosted. A lot of the really good staves/wands only have one or two charges. Recharge is difficult enough even with mastered spells of recharge and the spell you are recharging. Also, a heads up would have been nice. Rather frustrating logging in to find out this went live and already have lost a lot of things. Difficult to get staves were taken, but self made powerful scrolls kept. :(

Consumables need to be dehoarded via the monthly reboot not the limited item limit per log off. Aka if your not playing the game. Not if you have more than a few items. Also staves scrolls should be separate from armor items because you need both of them as a caster.

This is ONLY part of the monthly reboot. It does not happen at logout.

But what I am hearing (despite the fact that a relatively low number of people were affected) is that the change for consumables was too aggressive. Accordingly I will be tuning it to be less effective for next month.

I haven't gotten a chance to see the effects of this myself, but I think I agree with the playerbase at large when I say that as long as a character is active he should be able to hold onto a good deal of magical devices. I'm not particularly against the idea of having the required hours be in the hundreds in a month if you're holding dozens of magical devices, but I don't think there should be a hard cap regardless of hours.

Obviously, I have absolutely no idea what the rules themselves actually are, so I'm not sure if that's how things are currently tuned or not, but this thread was initially created in response to the fact that magical devices, -especially- those that weren't high-level in nature (like sanc staves) weren't being dehoarded at all in addition to the fact that characters who were losing flags due to insufficient hours weren't hardly losing anything. A month or two ago I personally had a character that I logged less than an hour on and I didn't lose the magical devices I had, including a sanc staff (I junked it afterwards).

Anyway, just tossing in my two cents that something is better than nothing, but I'm not particularly in favor of characters that have logged a lot of hours having things taken from them unless they were -really- keeping a pretty big trove.

I think a great change to the dehoarding system would be to have it mainly affect the people who are specifically HOARDING. A char who logs in every day for hours a day, carrying a whole bunch of stuff, isn't a hoarder. He's there, available to be ganked, and likely is utilizing most of what they carry on a regular, or semi-regular basis. Target the players who have stuff that don't spend time playing, not the people who are utilizing these items.
