If you can land a bash on a mage they are as good as dead too, or trip, or headbutt really... backstab... what else has killed me? Cancel a charm can do it, skirmish seems under-used but don't fight many scouts myself, sleep spells/scrolls have gotten me before, lots of tribunal/cabal skills have worked... And I'm done giving out ideas on how to kill me... oh, and the dreaded lag. Now that would be a great spell.

Not to mention add cleave. Feeblemind scroll has gotten me. Snare...etc etc
Wow... I really don't doubt that there's a lot of ways to kill you if you list those things as probable causes of death...
If you're in third row and holding up mirrors, that list is down to sleep spells/scrolls, in which case you would wake up when they kill your charm/pet in second row, giving you ample opportunity to get away.
So basically, what you're down to is ranged combat and unspecified cabal (and tribunal?) skills. I won't even get into eth scrolls, which you can make yourself - and seeing as there's no way to lag you in the third row, short of some lucky body slam, you can always get away.
And cancelling a charm is practically impossible after remove compulsion was introduced... And snare! Jesus, you play a class with staves/flight with no need for melee accuracy.
EDIT: I'd like to point out that I think sorcs are balanced, except for the offensive use of charm against PCs. Their immense amount of protection/utility, not to mention how damn hard they are to kill if played right, shouldn't give them access to the most powerful offensive spell in the game.
