Using a MUD Client with Shattered Kingdoms

Shattered Kingdoms may also be accessed using software specially written for the task. Although most operating systems include a basic telnet client, a dedicated MUD client can provide enhanced features like sound, color, aliased shortcuts for oft-typed commands, and many other improvements. If you're having trouble finding a client, feel free to ask in our 'Newbie' forum - our players and staff are always willing to help.

Remember, the basic information needed to connect with any client software is always:
  • Host:   mud.shatteredkingdoms.org
  • Port:   1996

We have searched the internet and compiled a list of the MUD clients that are available for various operating systems:

Can I make a group of characters all controlled by me?

Please Note!
The use of a dedicated client program is not meant to allow you to control more than one character on Shattered Kingdoms at any given time. This is called 'multiplaying' and is not allowed! For more details on this, refer to HELP MULTIPLAY within the game.

My MUD client software isn't working - who can help me?

Best path to a definitive answer is to post a question on the forums area - look for the newbie forum and post your question there. Try to give some details about what software you are using (for example, Windows XP), what MUD client software you're using (for example, zMUD version 6.62) and what the error message is, if there is one.

My new client software is connecting to SK! Where to now?

You are now ready to prepare for the game by planning your character history. If you already have a character in mind with a detailed history (or you choose not to have one just yet), you can move on to choosing a character's name.
